Material compositions from early 70's
Swedish architecture from the first half of the seventies is often characterized by labour and cost efficient construction. The prefab "plattenbau" construction is perhaps most famous but it is often accompanied by lighter buildings or parts of buildings where sheet material and timber is used extensively. I've not read or heard much discussion about this lighter 70's architecture. Perhaps because no one really sees any value in it, it lacks the permanence and monumentality of the large scale concrete architecture but still clearly expresses the economic efficiency.
Despite all this I find that the material compositions can be really quite interesting. Please find some examples below.
