Fittja by Höjer and Ljungqvist
Expressive brutalism is very rare in Sweden. The type of constructivist inspired stuff you see in the UK and elsewhere is almost completely absent. The materiality and detailing of brutalism, of which there is plenty, is in sweden overruled by geometric simplicity and complete "rationality".
Fittja is not a huge step outside the swedish norm but the massing is more futuristic. They have also allowed themselves to change the facade motif on the top floor (must have been a big deal at the time :) . The point blocks are missing the middle balcony and the deck access buildings have different windows on the top floor. This makes a difference for the overall impression. As always the decision to put parking under the courtyards, making real vegetation impossible, creates an unfortunate atmosphere.
